St. Cloud Middle School

Each year, students are challenged to read at least 3 books from the Sunshine State Young Reader Award (SSYRA) books. The SSYRA books are 15 books that have been chosed by a committee of Florida librarians and students that read at least 3 of the current SSYRA books can vote for the book they think was the best of the year. Their votes will count towards choosing the top book in Florida for the current year!

The SSYRA books are also used for the SDOC Battle of the Books competition. The SCMS Battle of the Books team begins in September to prepare for the competition in April. Students must read at least 3 books by January in order to try out for the competitive team. See Ms. Ford in the SCMS Media Center if you have any questions!
