SCMS Basketball Tryout Information

Below is the following information for Basketball tryouts. Please complete your Aktivate accounts prior to the first day of tryouts to avoid any issues or possible missed tryouts.

All students must meet the following athletic requirements in order to be eligible for sports. Students who do not meet these requirements will not be permitted to try out for/play sports:
  1. Students must have a completed Aktivate account. See the links below for instructions on how to complete this step. If your account is waiting for the "Admin Marked Complete" section to be finished, our Athletic Director will complete this section for you. If you have further questions, please look at the FAQ link below.
  2. Please make sure that your concession test is completed. Information on the concussion test can be found here under Athletics General Information. The password for the concussion test is 2ENGKBPHEQ. No student will be allowed to tryout/play a sport without a completed concussion test. Concussion test results do not need to be emailed to the Athletic Director. We have a platform to check the results of the concussion test.
  3. All students must have a non-expired sports physical in order to participate in tryouts/play sports. Your physical cannot be expired. If you believe your physical is close to being expired, or you are unsure, please check your Aktivate account or email Coach Metz - Dylan.Metz@osceolaschools.net. If you need a physical, you can either reach out to your PCP or East Lake Chiropractic as they do walk-ins. If you are choosing to use East Lake to complete your sports physical, please download the paperwork out of Aktivate and take that to them. Please upload this physical into Aktivate once it is complete.
  4. All students must meet our academic requirements to play sports. No student shall be allowed to play sports with 3 or more D's or 1 or more F on the previous quarter's report card. I.E. For a 7th grader wants to play soccer, which is a Quarter 1 sport, we would look at Quarter 4 report card grades from the previous school year to determine academic eligibility.
  5. Follow L.E.A.D. Expectations - Any student who wishes to play sports at SCMS must be able to follow the PBIS L.E.A.D. expectations on campus. Any student who exhibits poor behavior may be excluded from sports due to such behavior. It is advised that students who wish to try out for or make sports teams be on their best behavior while on campus, in the classroom, on the bus, or anywhere on school property. Athletes are held to the highest standards here at SCMS and poor behavioral choices may affect sports participation.
A schedule lists basketball tryout dates, times, and cut information.
